Model answer · Reports in LibreOffice Base
- 1.(a) In a DBMS, a report is used to present the retrieved data in an attractive and customized manner. Records extracted by a query are shown only in a simple row and column format. A report lets us display the data from one or more tables in a presentable manner, and we can add controls such as titles, author name and the date of generation of the report.1 mark
- 2.(b) Yes. A report can be created from a table, a query or both, so it can show data from multiple tables. If a report has to be generated from multiple tables, a query should preferably be created first. That query can then be used to generate the report.1 mark
- 3.(c) A dynamic report is a type of report that changes automatically as the field values in the base table or query change. Whenever the data in the base table or query is updated, the report shows the latest data.1 mark
- 4.(d) Step 2: Click Insert > Date and Time… option. The menu item is Insert and the option is Date and Time…. The Date and Time dialog box then appears. Select the desired format for the date and time and click on the OK button. The date is inserted in the Page Header area.1 mark

21. An electronic gadget shop keeps records of its electronic products, such as mobile phones, laptops, etc., in a table named Gadgets, which has columns for ItemID (Primary key), ItemType (mobile, iPad, Laptop), Size, Quantity, Price and Supplier. It also stores the billing data in another table named Bill, which has columns as BillNo (Primary key), ItemID, Price, CustName and CustPhoneNo. Based on the above, answer the following questions : (a) Name any two columns of the Gadgets table where duplicate values are allowed. (b) Assume that the table Gadgets already contains a product having value of ItemID as I001. Can we enter a new record with value of ItemID as I001 ? Justify. (c) Is it possible to store photos of the products in a new column of the table, Gadgets ? If yes, then suggest a suitable data type to store images. (d) Briefly explain the principle of referential integrity with respect to the tables, Gadgets and Bill.

Model answer · primary key, referential integrity
- 1.(a) ItemType and Supplier (also Size, Quantity, Price) can have duplicate values.1 mark
- 2.(b) No — ItemID is the primary key, and a primary key must be unique for every record, so I001 cannot be entered again.1 mark
- 3.(c) Yes, photos can be stored in a new column of the Gadgets table.0.5 marks
- 4.A suitable data type is Image (binary, e.g. BLOB/LONGVARBINARY; OLE Object in some DBMS).0.5 marks
- 5.(d) Referential integrity: the foreign key ItemID in Bill must match an ItemID that already exists in Gadgets (the primary key), so no bill can be entered for an item that is not in Gadgets.1 mark

Suggest suitable data type of each column Table : Orders | Order_ID | Order_date | Customer_ID | Amount | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | A_101 | 12/12/19 | C3445 | 1200.00 | | A_202 | 11/09/19 | C1245 | 3456.00 | | A_402 | 09/07/19 | C2121 | 2312.00 | (b) Consider the following table "Books". | BkID | BkName | Author | Qty | Price | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | B_101 | Learning with Fun | Jacobins | 5 | 355.00 | | B_103 | How I Live Now | Meg Rosoff | 4 | 400.00 | | B_104 | I Capture the Castle | Dodie Smith | 5 | 520.00 | | B_106 | Mortal Engines | Philip Reeve | 4 | 260.00 | | B_110 | The Kite Rider | Geraldine McCaughrean | 3 | 270.00 | Write SQL queries to (i) Display data of all books whose quantity is more than 3. (ii) Display total amount of all books whose price is less than 500. (Hint : amount = Qty x Price) For visually impaired candidates. Explain various relationships that can be created between two tables in a database.
How the model answer begins
1. (a) Suitable data types for the columns of the table "Orders": Order_ID – Varchar, because values such as A_101 mix letters, digits and the underscore, so they are stored as text. Order_date – Date, because values such…

Consider the following table : Table : Student | Student_ID | Name | Age | Phone_Number | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | S001 | Amit | 15 | 9876543210 | | S002 | Priya | 16 | 8765432109 | | S003 | Priya | 15 | 7654321098 | Answer the following questions : (a) You are given the task to design the student database for your school in LibreOffice Base. Based on the given table structure, suggest the datatype of student_id and age field that would be suitable to store student's-id and age respectively. (b) As a database administrator, you need to ensure each student has a unique identifier. Which field in the table would you choose as the primary key and why ? (c) Identify the field that can serve as an alternate key. Justify your answer. (d) How many attributes and records are present in the above shown table ?
How the model answer begins
1. The datatype suitable for Student_ID would be Number or Text, and the datatype suitable for Age would be Number. Student_ID values like S001, S002, S003 are alphanumeric in nature, so Text datatype can also be used to…
