Model answer · hyperlinks in spreadsheet

    1. 1.A relative hyperlink stores the location with respect to the current location. For example, Admin\Downloads\try.ods is a relative hyperlink as it is dependent on the current location and thus the folder admin is searched where the active spreadsheet is being stored. If the complete folder containing the active spreadsheet is moved, the relative link will still be accessible as it is bound to the source folder where the active spreadsheet is stored.1 mark
    2. 2.An absolute hyperlink stores the complete location where the file is stored, giving the full path or URL of the file. For example, C:\Users\ADMIN\Downloads\try.ods is an absolute link as it defines the complete path of the file. So, if the file is removed from the location, the absolute hyperlink will not work, whereas a relative path still works if the source folder is moved.1 mark
    3. 3.An internet hyperlink is used to link to web pages or external websites. Internet is a rich source of information, which is stored in the form of web pages, and these web pages are written in HTML documents, so an internet hyperlink points to a URL of such an external website.1 mark
    4. 4.A document hyperlink is used to navigate to a specific part of the same spreadsheet or another local file. It is possible to jump from a sheet in the same spreadsheet, a different spreadsheet or a website by creating such a hyperlink, and the Target in Document option helps to specifically choose a target in the document such as a sheet, table, frame, image or heading for navigation, instead of using a URL.1 mark
    • Write the exact example path 'C:\Users\ADMIN\Downloads\try.ods' for absolute hyperlink and 'Admin\Downloads\try.ods' for relative hyperlink to show full path vs relative path.
    • Mention that internet hyperlink links to web pages/external websites using a URL, while document hyperlink navigates within the same spreadsheet or another local file.
    • State clearly that moving the folder breaks an absolute hyperlink but not a relative hyperlink.

Model answer · Consolidating data, linking sheets

    1. 1.(a) The Consolidate function (Consolidate data tool) in Calc combines the sales data of different sheets into a single summary sheet. It combines information from two or more sheets into one, so the data can be viewed and compared in one sheet.1 mark
    2. 2.(b) The menu option is Data and the sub-menu option is Consolidate (Data > Consolidate). Mr Amit can add a new sheet for the summary, then click Data > Consolidate. In the dialog box he chooses a function and adds the source data ranges from each worksheet.1 mark
    3. 3.(c) The Sum() function displays the total of all the sales. In the Consolidate dialog box, Sum is chosen in the Function box so that the sales from all the sheets are added together.1 mark
    4. 4.(d) This can be done by creating a hyperlink on the text in the cell. The hyperlink points to the summary document saved at the other location. When Mr Amit clicks the text in the cell, the summary document opens.1 mark
    • For (b), write both the menu and the sub-menu: "Data > Consolidate".
