Summary
Okay, so, let's look back at everything we covered in this chapter. We started by saying transport and communication are the lifeline of our national economy. Why? Because they link production with consumption, and demand with supply. Then we looked at roadways — the most common means of transport. We saw their history, and the four types under the Nagpur Plan, plus Border Roads. After that came the National Highways, and big projects like the Golden Quadrilateral and the corridors. Next, we studied railways. Remember, they began in 1853. We looked at the railway zones, special trains, and that safety rule for unmanned crossings — Stop, Look, Hear, Go. Then we moved to pipelines, airways and waterways. Each of these has its own history, and its own figures, and each is important in its own way. After that, we explained communication — starting from ancient signals, right up to modern postal, telephone, radio and television services. And finally, we closed the chapter with international trade. We learned import, export, and the balance of trade. We also saw how India's trade is growing, and what Special Economic Zones are. That's the whole journey. Now, tell me — out of all of this, which part did you enjoy learning the most?
